- The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has amended the Right of Way rules, 2016 to ensure quick approvals for deploying telecom infrastructure.
- According to the amended rules, charges for laying aerial optical fibre will be capped at ₹1,000 per km and annual fees have been fixed at ₹300 for urban areas and ₹150 for rural areas per street furniture, and ₹1,000 per pole to set up small cells.
- The approvals for developing telecom infrastructures such as the laying of fibre and tower installations are obtained through the GatiShakti Sanchar portal (which was launched in May 2022).
- India-GABON Business Council was launched by the Indian Economic Trade Organization and the Embassy of GABON to accelerate the trade relationships between both countries.
- The council was launched on the National Day of Gabon (August 17, 2022).
- Gabon plans to have 100% clean energy by 2030.
- Bangladesh and India have signed two contracts for the construction of a new broad-gauge line between Khulna-Darsana and conversion of metre gauge line into a dual-gauge line between Parbatipur and Kaunia.
- Both of these rail lines are in Bangladesh.
- 38th Meeting of Ministerial level Joint Rivers Commission of India and Bangladesh was held in New Delhi.
- Both India and Bangladesh have finalised the text of MOU on interim water sharing of Kushiyara River (a distributary river in Assam and Bangladesh).
- The Joint Rivers Commission of India and Bangladesh was constituted in the year 1972 as a bilateral mechanism to address issues of mutual interest on common / border / transboundary rivers.
- India and Bangladesh share 54 rivers, of which 7 rivers have been identified earlier for developing the framework of water sharing agreements on priority.
- Ministry of Tribal Affairs and TB division of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organized a national conclave at the National Tribal Research Institute (NTRI), New Delhi to disseminate the learnings of the 100-day Aashwasan Campaign under ‘Tribal TB Initiative’.
- Tribal TB Initiative is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Central TB Division, Ministry of Health, supported by USAID as technical partner and Piramal Swasthya as implementing partner.
- The Aashwasan Campaign started in January this year for finding the active case of TB in 174 tribal districts of India, under the ambit of the Tribal TB Initiative.
- Now, 75 high-burden tribal districts have been selected for focused interventions in the coming months.
- The three-pronged strategy for the 75 Districts –
- Generating demand for TB services by increasing awareness on TB.
- Improving the delivery of TB services by enhancing the TB testing and diagnosis infrastructure.
- Decreasing the risk of transmission and decreasing the pool of infections through active case-finding campaigns.

- More than 46.25 crore beneficiaries banked under PMJDY since inception, amounting to over Rs 1,73,000 crore.
- 56% Jan Dhan account holders are women and 67% of Jan Dhan accounts are in rural and semi-urban areas.

- The MoU provides for the development of financial accounting software for NMDFC and State Channelizing Agencies (SCAs), loan accounting software for receiving and processing of loan applications and accounting of repayments from beneficiaries.
- ICICI Bank will design, develop and deploy the application for NMDFC, and provide source code and executable database information among others.
- The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has provided insurers with more flexibility in paying commissions by linking limits to the overall portfolio and company management expenses.
- The utmost commission sanctioned for non-life products has been pegged at 20% of the gross written premium in India in that financial year.
