Ministry of Finance has made Aadhaar mandatory for beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY).
• The Ministry has issued the notification under Aadhaar Act, 2016.
• Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY) was launched in 2017 by the Ministry of Finance.

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has released the funds of Rs 627.40 crore for 10 projects sanctioned during 2018-19 under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
• Meanwhile, cabinet also approved Rs 1854.67 crores for sanctioning new projects during 2019-20 under this scheme.

Union Cabinet has approved the reforms into the management of railways.
Reforms are:
• Merger of 8 “Group A” services: The services of Group A cadre are being merged to bring effectiveness in the management and to also to end ‘departmentalism’.

Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances and the Centre for Good Governance have released the “Good Governance Index 2019” which ranks the states and UTs on the basis of 10 sectors (which are sub-divided into 50 indicators).
• The index divides states and UTs in 3 categories – ‘big states’, ‘north-eastern & hilly’ areas and ‘UTs’.
