Tamil Nadu tops in micro-irrigation under the PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana

Website of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) has released the data on states measuring the coverage of area under ‘micro-irrigation’ (MI) in 2019.

• State with highest area under MI: Tamil Nadu (1.39 lakh hectares, i.e., 38% of the total 3.64 lakh hectares land under MI across India).

APEDA has sent its first trial shipment to Dubai

World Health Organization has released Global Tobacco use trends

World Health Organization has released Global Tobacco use trends 2000-2025 third edition report which mentions that the number of tobacco users has declined by 60 million between 2000 and 2018.
• Globally, there were 1.397 billion users in 2000 which has been reduced to 1.337 billion in 2018.

Rules relaxed on Overseas Citizenship of India

Ministry of External Affairs has relaxed some guidelines for Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) for those people aged below 20 years and for aged above 50 years.

For below 20 years: The cardholder below 20 years who has not got his/her reissued OCI card on the new passport can travel with the existing OCI card bearing old passport number.
